Two trainings targeted the users involved in the pilot implementation of a regional system for the monitoring and evaluation of the Participatory Irrigation Management / Irrigation Management Process (PIM/IMT) in Jordan (1-5 June 2014) and Tunisia (23-27 June 2014)

The trainings aimed to introduce the national, regional and local partners involved in the pilot implementation of the regional Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system in the selected countries, Jordan and Tunisia, to the tool (computer application) that was developed by SWIM-SM to monitor and evaluate the PIM/IMT process.

In particular, the partners were informed on the requirements to install and operate the system at the different geographical levels (local, regional and National), on its management, on data processing and reporting and were also able to test the alpha version of the system.

All stakeholders were introduced to the system’s requirements, the data needs and the outputs to be expected based on the pre-selected indicators, the required frequency of monitoring and the roles and responsibilities of the staff using the system, each at his/her respective level.

The pilot application activity presently foresees the entry of data by the partners in both pilot countries which will be followed by two workshops (one in each country), with the aim to analyse the monitoring and evaluation results of the PIM/IMT process in each country, identify any recommendations for system refinement and evaluate the pilot implementation, including identification of lessons learnt.
