SWIM- Support Mechanism


  • Information material and two press notes related to the “Two days training on the operation and management of WWTPs followed by a study tour to well-operated and managed WWTPs in Europe” are available in English, French and Arabic.
  • A search engine has been added to SWIM website to allow for a quick search of information related to the project’s activities and available material.

  • A “mobile” version of the SWIM website is being created to allow for an easier access of information about the Programme from smart phones and tablets. The first version is now available.

SWIM - ACLIMAS

Adaptation to Climate Change of the Mediterranean Agricultural Systems

  • ACLIMAS Annual Meeting and Steering Committee Meeting were held in Rabat (Morocco) on 23-24 October 2013. The presentations are available at the following link
  • ACLIMAS poster is available at this link
  • The sowing activities at the demonstration fields and in the on-farm implementation areas have started at the beginning of November and will proceed until  mid of December (see project  Agenda). 
  • A field day on the promotion of the ACLIMAS cereal products from Bekaa Valley will be organized on 3rd December in Byblos in cooperation with women associations and cooperatives (see project Agenda)..

SWIM – Sustain Water MED

Network of demonstration activities for sustainable integrated wastewater treatment and reuse in the Mediterranean countries

  • A new article related to the Regional Training on Waste Water Treatment and Re-use recently organised (3-7 November 2013, Amman - Jordan) is available in Arabic
  • A Jordanian Steering Committee Meeting on the 'Progress of the Construction Work' of the decentralized wastewater treatment plant at the Public Security Directorate in Moqablane, near Amman, Jordan was organised in the last week of November.
  • A Regional Coordination Meeting  will take place on 5-6 December in Berlin, Germany, 2013 (consortium partners from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan).

  • The abstract of the paper entitled “Spectral characterisation of salt - affected areas in the hydrological basin of Oued Biskra in Algeria, with the support of WADIS - MAR Project water management policies” presented at the National Conference ASITA (5-7 November, Riva del Garda – Italy) is available in English
  • The abstract of the paper entitled “Structural geology study for hydrogeological purpose of the area between Batna and Biskra (NE Algeria)” presented at the Meeting of GIGS  (Gruppo Italiano Geologi Strutturali) (28-30 October 2013) is available in English
  • The abstract of the papaer entitled “Use of SWAT-WHT model for the assessment of Integrated Water and Agriculture Management systems implemented in WADIS-MAR demonstration project” presented at the SWAT International Workshop ( 30 September – 4 October, Sardinia - Italy) is available in English
  • Steering Committee Meeting in Tunis (Tunisia)  on 2 December 2013

The project is planning to implement the following activities in the coming months:

  • Agriculture field mission in Biskra (Algeria) (December 2013);
  • Equipment purchasing for the activities in Algeria (December 2013)
